Best Addiction Treatment Centers in Los Angeles: 14 Brands to Compare for Care and Recovery Support

How quickly can you actually get into treatment once you decide you need it? For many people, that question matters more than any amenity, because the window between deciding and doing can close fast.

The answer depends on the program. Some can admit you the same day; others need an assessment first, or ask you to complete detox somewhere else before you arrive. Coverage, location and who the program is built for all affect how fast you can start, too.

This guide compares 14 programs on how you get in and what support you get once you are there, from the first call through aftercare. A quick table shows how each one starts, and full entries follow, starting with Bright Paths Recovery, which often admits clients on the day they call.

The Fourteen, from First Call to Aftercare

1. Bright Paths Recovery

Best for: Adults who need to start treatment the same day

You can begin with a phone call or the online insurance verification form, and Bright Paths Recovery checks your benefits free and in confidence. Admission often happens the same day, and if you are traveling in, the team can arrange your trip, including an airport pickup.

After admission, withdrawal and residential treatment take place in one Northridge house of 12 beds, where clinical staff are on duty day and night and the company reports a 3:2 staffing ratio. A typical stay lasts 28 to 40 days. Sessions draw on CBT, DBT and motivational interviewing, and relatives join therapy at the house once or twice weekly.

Leaving does not mean losing contact. Graduates keep a private alumni app, join a call each week and get regular check-ins from staff, and the team connects them with sober homes and outpatient partners. If your partner also needs care, the two of you can enter together, and a pet can come along, which can remove two reasons to put treatment off.

Verdict: The fastest route from decision to detox on this list. You will need private insurance or private pay, and step-down care happens through partners.

2. Beit T'Shuvah

Best for: Adults ready for months of structure

Your first step at Beit T'Shuvah is the intake coordinator or its online insurance form. Before admission, you will need to have finished medical detox, since the program does not provide it.

Once in, you join a long-term West LA community that combines Jewish spirituality, the 12 steps and clinical therapy. Expect several groups a day, Torah study, Shabbat services and, if you want it, work in the organization's bakery, thrift store or studios.

Support extends to your family through a family program, and the Right Action track addresses gambling. The program partners with Drug Medi-Cal and offers scholarships. It began in 1987 as a Downtown halfway house and has held Joint Commission accreditation since 2015.

Verdict: Deep, long-term support if you are prepared for strict rules, including no phone for at least 60 days and no computer. You must also understand English to be admitted.

3. Casa Serena

Best for: Women seeking one address for every stage of recovery

Casa Serena, about 90 miles up the coast in Santa Barbara, admits only women and, per its press release, handles withdrawal, residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and regular outpatient care plus transitional housing on a single site.

Your support does not end at discharge. The program offers aftercare for life, and its sober living option, Millie's House, gives you a structured place to stay while you rebuild.

If eating disorders are part of your picture, they are treated within the same program. The nonprofit dates to 1959 and states Joint Commission accreditation. Noozhawk describes detox lasting three to seven days, followed by four to six weeks of residential care, and Psychology Today lists CBT, DBT and EMDR.

Verdict: The most extended aftercare commitment on this list, for women only. Directory listings say both private and public insurance are accepted.

4. Tarzana Treatment Centers

Best for: Medi-Cal members who need many kinds of help

You can start at Tarzana Treatment Centers by phone, through an online form or by telehealth. If you use Medi-Cal, your residential detox can be covered under Drug Medi-Cal or My Health LA.

From there, one organization can carry you from inpatient withdrawal care into a residential bed and then into partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient or standard outpatient visits. Should psychiatric symptoms worsen, a hospital unit within the same system can stabilize you.

Your support can extend to medical, dental and HIV care, recovery housing and, if you are a parent, a residential program where children can stay with their mothers. Teens have their own residential track, and if your case involves a court, drug court and diversion programs are available. The nonprofit has operated since 1972.

Verdict: The widest range of support for public-coverage clients, across many sites. A published charity care policy explains how to get help with bills.

5. CLARE│MATRIX

Best for: Westside adults on Medicare or Medicaid

If you are covered by Medicare or Medicaid, CLARE│MATRIX lists both, according to Cope Compass, along with private insurance and a sliding scale.

You would go through detox and residential care on the Santa Monica campus, in housing separated by gender, for 30 to 90 days. Medication for addiction can be prescribed on site.

Afterward, your support continues through Matrix Model outpatient groups in Santa Monica, Mid-City or Ontario, and some sessions are available by telehealth. An Opioid Treatment Program is also listed, and directories mention groups for older adults, veterans and LGBTQ+ clients. The organization formed in 2018 through a merger of two long-running nonprofits.

Verdict: A strong public-coverage choice with built-in outpatient follow-up. Amenities are not described, so ask about daily life on the campus.

6. Breathe Life

Best for: Adults working through trauma

You can reach Breathe Life Healing Centers through a 24/7 line or by email. Its Laurel Canyon program centers on complex trauma and PTSD, with dedicated tracks for LGBTQ+ clients, chemsex and flight attendants.

Your care can run from detox through residential, PHP, IOP and outpatient treatment into transitional living, with medication-assisted treatment if you need it.

Relatives can attend a short class or a multi-day workshop, and once treatment ends, BreatheOUT meets online every week. Brad Lamm, an interventionist, founded the program; it carries the Joint Commission's Gold Seal, and Anthem, Aetna and Cigna are among the logos on its site.

Verdict: Strong trauma-focused support; confirm with admissions where your detox would take place, and ask about transitional living if you want extra structure afterward.

7. Wish Recovery

Best for: Professionals who want one provider throughout

Wish Recovery keeps your entire course of care on one Northridge estate, according to its press release: detox, residential treatment, PHP and IOP.

If you work in law, medicine or senior leadership, its Executive and Professionals Program is designed for you. Directories describe private suites and an acupuncture room.

You may also be offered equine and outdoor therapy. Detox.com reports Joint Commission accreditation and LegitScript certification, and Psychology Today lists dual diagnosis care. The company says it was founded by a family with lived experience of addiction.

Verdict: One provider from start to finish if you are paying through private insurance. Ask for the license number, since public listings do not show it.

8. Luxe Recovery

Best for: Adults who want a very small household

At Luxe Recovery, you would live in a house of six clients, according to StartYourRecovery. The homes are in Los Feliz and the Hollywood Hills.

Withdrawal is managed inside the home by nursing staff at all hours, and the residential phase follows without a move; Recovery.com puts it at 30 to 90 days. Psychology Today lists EMDR, ACT, DBT and neurofeedback among the therapies on offer.

Directories describe a hot tub, an arcade and chef-prepared meals, and StartYourRecovery says pets are welcome under certain policies. Arthur Melkonyan is listed as owner and chief executive.

Verdict: Maximum privacy, if you have PPO coverage or can pay directly. Medicaid, Medicare and state-funded plans are not accepted.

9. Clearview

Best for: Adults living with serious mental illness alongside addiction

If schizophrenia, bipolar disorder or a similar condition is part of your life, Clearview's Venice residential program was built for you, with DBT at the center of its work.

Partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs continue care after the residential phase, and veterans may qualify through VA Community Care. Residents live in houses near the Venice treatment buildings and attend 12-step meetings in the neighborhood.

Because detox is not described on its addiction program page, work out with admissions how withdrawal will be handled if you are still using. Kaiser, Health Net/MHN, Anthem Blue Cross and Aetna are in network, and the program displays a Gold Seal from The Joint Commission.

Verdict: Specialist support for complex psychiatric needs, with women's and gender-inclusive programs also available.

10. La Fuente Hollywood

Best for: LGBTQ+ adults who want an affirming community

Since 2005, according to a regional directory, La Fuente has built its Hollywood program around LGBTQ+ adults; Rehab.com puts capacity at 15 beds.

Care runs in a straight line, from detox under medical management to a residential bed, then step-down programs and finally a sober home, and relatives and graduates stay involved through family and alumni groups.

Its CARF accreditation began in 2014. Clinicians use art therapy, CBT and the Matrix Model, other listings mention support for veterans and clients with HIV/AIDS, and Rehab.com reports that most insurance plans are accepted.

Verdict: A small, consistent community through every stage of care, close to central Hollywood.

11. CRI-Help

Best for: Valley residents using Medi-Cal

CRI-Help's 24-hour intake line makes it easy to start, and the North Hollywood nonprofit accepts Medi-Cal, payment plans and a sliding fee, according to directories.

Expect each residential day to combine a 12-step meeting with yoga and time with a case manager. Day treatment, outpatient groups and sober housing are available once residential care ends.

Services are available in English and Spanish, and programs for expectant mothers are listed. Choose Help reports CARF accreditation, and a second residential house, Socorro, operates in Los Angeles.

Verdict: An accessible, affordable starting point in the Valley, especially if you prefer services in Spanish.

12. Hoag

Best for: Adults whose detox needs hospital support

Hoag's lines are open 24/7, and its free assessments run seven days a week. Detox happens inside an acute-care hospital system in Orange County.

The residential phase continues at SolMar Recovery, Hoag's 21-bed unit on its Newport Beach grounds, with tracks for chronic pain, young adults and people still working full time. Mood, trauma and anxiety conditions are treated alongside addiction.

Relatives can attend a family program that runs for a full week, and graduates can join an alumni network called Hoag's Heroes.

Verdict: Hospital-level support if your medical needs call for it and you can travel to Orange County.

13. Hazelden Betty Ford

Best for: Relatives who want an active role in recovery

Hazelden Betty Ford offers a 24-hour line and a no-cost assessment. Its campus is in Rancho Mirage, about two hours from LA.

Services on that campus include withdrawal care led by medical staff, inpatient and outpatient treatment, online sessions and a dedicated opioid use disorder program, and a sober home sits on the grounds.

Your family can join workshops, and a children's program supports younger relatives. Sessions are offered in Spanish and for Native American families, and the foundation publishes a financial aid policy if cost is a concern.

Verdict: Strong family support, with the trade-off of distance and no Los Angeles location.

14. Duffy's

Best for: Families who want a long-established program far from home

Duffy's Napa Valley Rehab has a 24/7 helpline and free insurance verification. The Calistoga campus, operating since 1967, is roughly 400 miles from Los Angeles.

You would receive detox, residential care and outpatient services, with art, music, yoga and meditation sessions alongside therapy.

After discharge, alumni services help you stay connected. Its insurer list includes Kaiser Permanente and TriWest, along with Aetna, Anthem and Blue Shield of California. Duffy's holds CARF accreditation and treats co-occurring mental health conditions alongside addiction.

Verdict: A distant destination option, now part of Acadia Healthcare, best suited to families who want real distance from Los Angeles.

Life Inside a Residential Program

Residential treatment means you live at the program and take part in therapy every day. It usually follows detox, when your body clears alcohol or drugs under medical supervision.

Your days will include individual therapy, group sessions and practical work on routines, relationships and relapse warning signs. Many programs add family sessions, so the people closest to you understand what you are working on. Some also offer specialty work, such as art therapy, equine therapy or experiential outings, to give you other ways to process what you are going through.

Stays vary. At Bright Paths you would usually spend 28 to 40 days, directories describe 30 to 90 days at several others, and Beit T'Shuvah is designed for long-term stays. When you leave, you may step down to PHP or IOP, move into sober living, or join an alumni group.

If you also live with a mental health condition, ask how the program treats it during the residential stay. Some, like Bright Paths, keep addiction as the main focus while treating conditions such as PTSD or depression alongside it; others, like Clearview, are built mainly around serious mental illness.

Common Mistakes When You Compare Programs

You might focus on the setting and forget the start date. If you need help now, ask each program how soon it can admit you.

You might assume detox is included. At Beit T'Shuvah it is not, and Clearview's addiction page does not describe it. If you are still drinking or using, confirm where withdrawal care will happen before you choose anything else.

You might wait too long to check coverage. A free benefits check at the start saves calls to programs that cannot take your plan.

You might overlook house rules. Phone and computer limits, visiting schedules and pet policies differ widely, and some will affect your family or job while you are away.

You might plan only for the stay. Before admission, ask what happens on discharge day and in the weeks after: an alumni app, step-down outpatient care, sober housing or nothing at all.

Before You Commit

If you need to start quickly and want withdrawal care and a residential stay under one small roof, call Bright Paths Recovery first. For longer horizons, Beit T'Shuvah offers months of community and Casa Serena aftercare without an end date. Tarzana, CLARE│MATRIX and CRI-Help are your main routes on public coverage, while Breathe Life, Clearview and La Fuente each serve a particular group. Before you commit anywhere, ask two questions: when could I start, and what support will I have the day I leave?
