Magento product feed in WordPress blog
Display Magento’s category or product feed in your WordPress’ blog
If you run a Magento store and a WordPress blog, chances are, you would want to have your category or products feed show up in your blog, and vice versa. In this article we will show you how to do it for WordPress’ Blog.
First make sure that the WordPress theme you have is Widget ready.
Login to your WordPress’ admin, under the “Appearance > Widgets”, drag the “RSS” to the right column, where widget(s) of your theme is/are located. Depending on the WordPress theme you used, there maybe just one widget or a few. This picture shows we have three widgets and we have the RSS feed placed in the “middle-right” widget.
In “Enter the RSS feed URL here:”, enter one of your store’s feeds. Note that in Magento there are five different product feeds under catalog, and you can decide which feed to show in your blog. In our example we use New Products, so the feed URL looks like so:
If the “Top Level Category” enables, you can pull a category onto your blog. You may use this to increase your basket size by creating a “On Sales” (or Hot Deals) category for your blog’s readers. Once you have this setup in your store and have assigned products to the category, simply go to “your-store.com/rss/”, click on the “On Sales” under Category Feeds, from the browser address bar, copy the address and paste it to your WordPress’ RSS “Enter the RSS feed URL here:” field.
This will show simple listings of your products feed. As you can see, you will have the option to choose “item content” and “item date”.
The Widget RSS feed is rather simple. It can’t show product image and can’t trim the content of your catalog’s feed. Still, we hope this serves the purpose for your store’s SEM and hopefully help you increase your store’s basket size.
